There are different techniques available for tooth whitening and a consultation with a dentist is necessary to determine the most effective method.

• Discolored Teeth

There are different methods of bleaching available today and the extent of discoloration would determine the best method appropriate for the case.

                   Power Bleaching

The fastest method is power bleaching performed at the office.   We offer ZOOM2 power bleaching that can improve up to 8 shades in 1 hour.

                  Take Home Trays

This method requires the dentist to make a custom tray for the patient.  The patient will take this tray with the prescribed bleaching material home.  The patient needs to apply the bleaching material everyday for up to 10 days.

                       Over the Counter Products

There are over the counter products, e.g., Crest White Strips, available that could help to improve the shade of the teeth.  However, these methods must be used every day for 14 days to 30 days to be effective.  

• Extensively Discolored Teeth

In the case of teeth with large restoration or dark brown/blue pigmentation, the discoloration can be replaced with porcelain veneers, composite filing or tooth bonding depending on the case.
