Frequently asked Questions

This page discusses common problems and available dental solutions for them.

  • What is available to improve the shade of my teeth?

There are different methods available for tooth whitening, however, to obtain the best results the root cause of the tooth discoloration must be determined.

Depending on the reason for tooth discoloration, the treatment could be divided into: 1)  bleaching and 2) non-bleaching solutions.

The bleaching methods include:  in-office power bleaching, take home trays, over the counter products.  The non-bleaching methods are composite filings, tooth bonding, veneer and crowns.  Please see tooth whitening web-page for detailed information on the available solutions.

  • Is there anything that I can do for my bad breath?

Bad breath has different reasons ranging from the food to gum disease.  Fortunately, there are different products and treatment for each problem.  Please see Bad Breath (Halitosis) Therapy for details.

  • I have had gap between my front teeth since I was a child.  Is there any treatment to correct it?

This could be corrected by tooth bonding ,veneers or if necessary porcelain dental crowns could be used.  For more information please see Tooth Bonding and Porcelain Crowns.

  • My front teeth look cracked and shorter.  What can be done?

Porcelain veneers, Tooth Bonding or Porcelain Crowns are possible restoration solutions available.

  • I have large amalgam (silver) restoration on my back teeth and every time I smile or laugh you can see the dark color of the restorations.  Is there an easy way to fix this?

Depending on the extent of the restoration, the old restoration could be taken out and replaced with ceramic material or for large restorations an inlay, onlay or a crown might be needed.  Please see Composite Filings, Inlay/Onlays or  Dental Crowns for more information.

  • I have lost all of my teeth and I do not want to be concerned about my dentures falling out of my mouth.  Is there any solution?

Dental implants are used to provide anchors for the dentures and make it more stable.
